I will be writing up the findings as of this weekend -- have to have
that chapter completed by October 12, so it's kind of late now. I
will be still looking at findings next week, but after that, I will
just mainly be writing. However, whenever a report is completed, I
would still like to have a look at it. I think the most interesting
"finding" is that your epi made some sort of objection to the handling
of the data, or the reporting or whatever it was, and I would really
like to know more about that. I know the chances of that are probably
nil, but that little piece all by itself is fairly significant.

    Weather:
It was a mainly sunny day again today with a bit of high cirrus to
    provide
a bit of a background for any high-flying migrants. Winds were
    light from
the west early becoming southwest and then moderate to fairly
    strong
    east-southeast by mid afternoon.
    Raptor Observations:
Although there were not the numbers of Broad-wings seen in recent
    days,
overall there was a steady flight recorded throughout the day with
    Sharpies
dominating the movement but with good numbers of most species
    particularly
Harriers. Only a few actually kettles of Broad-wings were seen with
    most of
those recorded being ones and twos mixed in with other migrants. A
    few
folks that wandered northward reported that the migration was
    minimal to
the north, so unlike the previous day it appeared that most of the
    action
was within view of the count area.
    Non-raptor Observations:
Monarchs picked up considerably in the afternoon when the wind went
    more to
the east. A single Common Nighthawk was also noted.

Much like a summer day today with warm temps and moderate S to SE

Little in the way of clouds.
    Raptor Observations:
Not a bad flight given the SE winds. Total of 390 birds tallied

majority of the count being Sharpies (307), Northern Harriers (33)
    and
Kestrels (32). Only 2 Broadwings today...after a weekend that saw
    nearly
    30,000 pass through the area!!
    Non-raptor Observations:
    Predictions:
    More S and SE winds...need I say more. :)

The juvenile Ruff was still at Wildwood today. It 'arrived' around
    9:30 AM
on the west side of the 31 st line bridge, feeding with Pectoral
    Sandpipers,
Lesser Yellowlegs, Killdeer, and a few Least Sandpiper. The
    resevoir is
being drawn down so there are now lots of potential places for the
    shorebirds to feed.
Directions to the 31 st Oxford line bridge can be found on previous
    days
    postings.
