Observation end time: 15:30:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Weather:
Foggy and hazy conditions delayed the start of the count today with haze
persisting throughout the entirety of the day. Visibility was reduced to a
matter of a few miles for much of the morning with the maximum being about
8 miles in the afternoon. The winds were light to moderate southeast.

Raptor Observations:
Sharp-shins were active as soon as the fog burned off enough to detect any
migration. Movement overall was in pulses of Sharpie activity intermixed
with a few Kestrels. Very few other birds bothered to migrate in the heavy
humid conditions.

Non-raptor Observations:
There was considerable passerine activity during my pre-count wanderings
and included Mourning, Black-throated Blue (several) and Wilson’s Warbler,
Philadelphia Vireo, Great Crested and Least Flycatchers, Winter Wren and
Rusty Blackbird. A Common Moorhen has been seen in the cove between the
main lotus bed and Sturgeon Bar the last two mornings.
