It never did clear completely but the afternoon was partly to mainly sunny. Winds were generally light and varied from west to west-northwest. Raptor Observations: The flight took some time to develop but with the brighter skies gradually building into the area, there was a steady movement from about noon through the end of the day. Many of the Broad-wing groups were disorganized ranging from a few birds to a few dozen birds, and as with the days movement in general, arranged themselves over the whole sky rather than in any particular flight path. Highlighting the day overall were the five Peregrines observed and the two Red-shoulders noted, which included the seasons first adult bird. Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays migrated in tremendous numbers today. They quite literally were passing through at every moment of the day, although the activity lessened in the afternoon. There were a number of instances when there was a stream of jays in every corner of the sky. Undoubtedly tens of thousands of birds migrated perhaps even approaching six digits in all. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
