Happy Thanksgiving all,

There now appears to be a possible 4 Franklin`s gulls at the end of the Willows in the Dundas marsh.

At first light this morning Sunday, I had two fly over my head in the company of Ring-billed gulls. Immediately scoping the other gulls on the mud, I had one more, which was joined by a fourth bird 10 mins later. I do not believe that any of the gulls leaving the marsh returned the hour or so I was there. I left at 8.15am, with 2 Franklin`s gulls actively feeding in the mud.

Best strategy to see these birds is to arrive at first light before most of the gulls fly off to the dumps or fields for the day.

On Friday last, I encounted one Nelson`s Sharp-tailed Sparrow in the Marsh alongside Paradise pond, on the East side. The American White Pelican was also seen today Sunday by another lady. There is also still a good selection of Shorebirds to be seen, including 22 Dunlin today.

Directions: The Dundas marsh can be accessed of Cootes Drive in Dundas, which runs adjacent to McMaster University Hamilton. Park on the layby on the West side, cross the Bridge over the Creek. The trail head is marked with a Blue piece of styrafoam, which is the right side of the creek. Follow the now well maintained trail all the way to the end of the Willows, (about 1/2 hr). Carefully walk out on to the mud were all the birds can be scoped, with patience.

Cheers and good luck,
Dave Don
