Weather: The start of the day was very promising, with complete cloud cover reducing to 50% by 9am, and moderate winds out of the WNW/NW. Unfortunately the wind had shifted to West with a cloudless sky by 11am. Conditions were very pleasant with temperatures starting at 16.3 and rising to a maximum of 25.5. Raptor Observations: The Northwesterlies made for a good start dominated by Turkey Vultures and Sharpies along with a smattering of buteos and Northern Harriers. This movement came to a virtual standstill around midday as winds shifted to the west, although a late flurry of Kestrels provided some interest. Non-raptor Observations: Generally migration was light with Goldfinches and Tree Swallows moving through in small numbers. Another 6,500 Bluejays were counted. Predictions: Tomorrow promises to be much cooler with a high of 15. Winds are expected to be light to moderate from the WNW with virtually complete cloud cover all day. There is a 60% chance of rain showers intermittently throughout the day. Tomorrow could set the stage for some excellent days at the end of the week and into the weekend. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Don Wiens ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
