Algonquin Park's second-ever Red-bellied Woodpecker appeared at the Visitor Centre feeder (at km 43) yesterday (Monday, October 15), and is present again this morning. It may hang around for awhile, since it is eating and storing black sunflower seeds. Other birds coming to the feeder include: Purple Finch, Pine Siskin, Evening Grosbeak and Rusty Blackbird. The feeder is located in front of the building, viewable from the driveway to the service entrance.
Please let us know the date, number and location of birds you observe when you visit Algonquin Park. This information is stored in the Algonquin Visitor Centre database, and will help us to assist other birders here. Thanks. Good luck.
