Hi Mom,
I'm home sick for the second day in a row. Too bad because today's a nice
sunny day for a change...if I was well enough to go in to work i probably
would have gone out at lunch.
There are still lots of Sandhill cranes around here, I hope they make it
down your way. I'll send you any more interesting reports from the
Cambridge area I receive through ontbirds.
I found a couple of websites you might be interested. One is a bulletin
board for Toronto and southern ontario birding:
http://outdoorontario.net/birds/phpBB/
The other is a recommended bed and breakfast at Point Pelee that also offers
birding packages:
http://www.netcore.ca/~peleetom/webdoc1.html
It looks like a really nice place to stay with lots of great bird
habitat....check out their yard list for bird species seen!
Good luck with your job interviews, I hope you find a great place with nicer
people to work with. Keep me posted.
Love,
Gillian

Hey Gil: Thanks for the update. Dad and I went back to Bannister Lake but
all we saw were Wood Ducks, Bufflehead and I think a Redhead Duck. They
stayed over the other side so it was hard to get details. The swans were
gone. The swans were a "lifer" for me as it was Mute Swans we saw in
Alberta. Anyway we will keep our eyes open when we go back to Bannister
Lake. We also checked out another area on that map. It was really
beautiful. No water but lots of trails. The only thing we saw was about
30 Robins. I hope to check out another new one this weekend. Keep you
informed. I have a job interview this afternoon. Started to put out
resumes yesterday. Sorry you are not feeling well. Hope it is short. I
have been taking Vitamin C and my cold was not as bad as Dads. Anyway will
talk to you soon. Love Mom

FYI, sounds like there are some good birds at Bannister Lake today!
Despite being sick (I think I got your cold....the lymph nodes on my neck
are all swollen and I can't breathe through my nose properly) I went out
this morning and finally saw some sandhill cranes in the east end. Great
birds!

There was a single Common Moorhen in Bannister Lake today at 1:00pm. The
bird was on the north side of the road at the west end of the lake in a
small bay area quite close to the road. It was loosely associating wih a
half dozen American Coot and Mallards.
From Cambridge drive out of the soutwest corner of the city on St.
Andrew's Rd which turns into Spragues Rd. Follow this to Wrigley Rd and
turn right. Bannister Lake is located on the north side of Wrigley Rd.,
Wrigley Lake on the south side. The bird was seen from the last (most
westerly) vantage point along Wrigley Road before the intersection with
Dumfries Rd.
