Just to give an update that the bird was still there when I viewed it from
1:10 - 1:30 p.m.. It flew around spooked by something with a number of
shorebirds and then settled into a far corner but still could be seen well.

I also want to give credit to the finder of this bird. Dave Donn of Dundas
found the bird and emailed me around the noon hour and asked if anyone else
saw this bird could they confirm the identity. Early afternoon Dave Don
(yes there are two of them) from Burlington, confirmed the identity of this
species with help from a number of resources.

Thanks to both Dave's for this great Hamilton first.

Dundas Hydro Ponds

It is best to park in the front of the hydro utility station on Olympic
Drive (near the intersection with Cootes Drive) in Dundas. To reach the
pond follow the north side of the Desjardins Canal on the east side of
the road.

There is a small trail that leads through a dense stand of Phragmites
grass for 200 - 300 m. You then reach the medium sided pond where the
bird was seen.
