Hello Everyone
Yesterday, October 24, weather conditions in the Ottawa area proved to be interesting and produced a small flight of Brant and other species from the north. I birded along the Ottawa River between Britannia and Shirley's Bay from 1100 to 1400hr. There was a good flight of Brant between 1200 and 1345hr with 1700+ birds in 9 flights ranging from 100-300 in size. All flocks were heading straight south at a high altitude. Also observed were 1 adult Bald Eagle, 1 immature Golden Eagle, 2 Red-throated Loon, and a small number of all three scoters with 17 male Black, 22 male White-winged and 2 male Surf. At Andrew Haydon Park I had a flock of 14 Bohemian Waxwings and 14 Snow Bunting flew over. Finch numbers continue to increase with more small flocks of both Pine Siskin and Evening Grosbeaks being seen in the Carp area. Yesterday, both were at my feeder. If you require additional information, please email me
privately.
