Phyllis Coble and Jeanece Seals from TN. The other of the "Tennessee Trio" had other obligations. Weather: Rain when I arrived at 8:40. Stopped at 11 am. Count started 9 am EST. 100% clouds. Temp C: 14.5, 16.4. 14.1. Barometer falling 30.18 in Hg to 30.15 in Hg. Wind ESE to SSE4-8 km/hr. Raptor Observations: Very few. 3 Sharpies and 2 Harriers. One Juv. Harrier examined the trout pond for over 15 minutes. Sallying back and forth over the outer path and the inner shoreline. Landed twice on the inside of the southwest corner and on the north inside 5 feet from the shoreline. Back and forth, back and forth. Snap! It got a frog and proceeded westward landing some distance away and had lunch. Non-raptor Observations: Bluebird - 2, Kingfisher - 1, Starling - 1,500 (Two big long cloud-like phalanxes of them.), Killdeer - 1, Yellow-rumped Warbler - 15 (Low to the ground.), Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 10, Eastern Phoebe - 3, Red-bellied Woodpecker -1, Downey Woodpecker -1, Common Moorhen -1, Mute Swan - 15, Bufflehead - 6 (Landed in trout pond in a group of 2 males and 4 females. Stayed 10 minutes then off.)
