My husband and I birded some of the water areas near Coldwater, Waubaushene
and Port McNicoll on Saturday. We counted about 160 Trumpeter Swans, three
Great Blue Herons, a dozen Common Mergansers, and about a dozen Common
Goldeneyes, some mallards and several dozen Canada Goose. There were other
birds, some far out in the bay that we didn't see well enough to name for
sure.

Before we left our home (Waubaushene, ON) to bird we were treated to about a
dozen Evening Grosbeaks at our feeders (these in addition to the daily
visits of Red-breasted and White-breasted nuthatches, Hairy and Downy
woodpeckers, a pair of cardinals, goldfinches, juncos and the occasional
dove.)
