We saw no sunshine, and there was frequent intermittent light drizzle all day. Winds were gusty at 20 - 40 km/hr, starting from the SW and shifting to W by early afternoon. Temperature rose from 3.2 to a high of 5.9. Raptor Observations: Raptor migration was minimal, with two Golden Eagles just before 9am being the highlight. The only excitement of the afternoon was watching the wind blow the "Port-a-potty" over. Non-raptor Observations: Passerine migration was very light. About 170 Bonapartes Gulls passed through in groups of 20 to 50 during the morning, seemingly intent on heading west and paying little attention to the marsh. The speed of these agile flyers despite the strong headwind was quite remarkable. Predictions: Another cool day starting at 1 degree with a high of 6. The forecast calls for a mix of sun and clooud with a chance of showers in the early morning. Winds are predicted to be moderate from the west (or possibly northwest!). ======================================================================== Report submitted by Don Wiens ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
