From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Ottawa - Ad. male "Oregon" Junco, Fletcher Wildlife Garden, Nov 12Date: Mon, 12 Nov 2007 12:29:37 -0400 Dear Ontbirders, Today at 10:55 I saw what I can only call an adult male "Oregon" subspecies Dark-eyed Junco at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. Dark slate to black hood strongly contrasting with chestnut back, light rufous wash on flanks. See plate 48 picture j in Rising/Beadle's "A Guide to the Indentification and Natural History of the Sparrows of the United States and Canada." The bird was associating with "Slate-coloured" juncos, foraging in the compost pile and around the ravine near the intepretive centre building.
