While it might seem improbable for a Gannet to travel the 54 km
straight-line distance between Cobourg and Oshawa harbours in an hour,
it certainly isn't impossible. The Gannet is capable of flight speeds of
60 km/h, regularly foraging over distances of 60 km and occasionally as
much as 180 km from breeding colonies.
