This morning there has been two Long-eared owls and a Short-eared Owl hunting a field west of Port Hope in the dim lighting. The three owls, there may be more are moving between two or three weedy fields that are sapced apart by corn fields so it does take some looking. As well, they are being pretty successful so they tend to perch for a while. Looke through the locust trees as the long-eared can usually be found in them. Otherwise they have even been perching on the posts right at the side of the road.
I am giving the most direct route and perhaps not the quickest one. Take the Wesleyville exit on the 401 (west of Port Hope). Follow the road south until it ends at the red flashing light. Turn left (east). Follow beyond Port Britain to Brand Rd. They could be anywhere in this area. This morning they were closer to the railroad underpass about 0.5km east of this road. Yesterday they were right at the junction of Brand Road and Lakeshore road. The day before they were closer to the railroad underpass so they seem to favour these areas. But further to the west there is also suitable fields where they can sometimes be found.
