I had the good fortune this afternoon at 1:35 of discovering a Northern Hawk
Owl. It was on a utility post on 10th Road East in Stoney Creek about 500
metres south of Ridge Road right next to the railway tracks and was very
actively hunting. When I returned after making a phone call, it took a while
for the bird to reappear. It was refound closer ro Ridge Road and was watched
by about ten Hamilton birders on both sides of 10th Road East until shortly
after 3PM. It was still present when everyone left.

To get to 10th Road East, take the Fifty Road exit off the QEW and follow it
south and up the escarpment to where Fifty Road ( 11th Road East ) intersects
with Ridge Road. Turn right on Ridge and go west to 10th Road East, turn left
and go south towards the tracks.
