GTA birders working on a winter list may be interested in the following e-mail
which I received from Lorena Campbell of Willow Beach yesterday evening:

"I was heading north on Warden Ave just above Davis Dr. at 3:30 today when a
Great Gray Owl swooped down in front of my bus and almost hit the windshield of
a cubevan heading south."

Davis Drive runs east-west through Newmarket. Warden Avenue runs north-south
on the eastern outskirts of town (east of Hwy. 404). I drove over to that area
after work today but had no luck with the bird. Still, the light was waning
rapidly and the traffic was busy so I did not pull over to investigate "likely
looking" areas as much as I'd have liked.

If anyone happens to rediscover this bird, please post.

Newmarket is halfway between Toronto and Barrie.
