Hi All,

Today I took a trip out to Scarborough and headed to the east end. As soon as
I arrived at 67 Satchell Blvd I went to the backyard and the bird was at the
feeder (although hidden from view), it flew after I waited for 2 minutes and I
didn't even know it was there until I saw the red/pink and black & white in
flight!

I decided, after 10 minutes to walk around the neighbourhood and when I saw a
flock of Chickadees heading to the backyard I figured it was time to go look.
There was a flurry of activity and sure enough, after another 5 minutes the
male Rose-breasted Grosbeak came in to feed at the main feeder!

I then headed to Pine Hills Cemetery and upon finding the feeder I noticed very
little activity and next to no seed in or under it. I got out of the car and
heard then saw a Brown Creeper right by the road. After walking around for a
bit, I noticed a small trail down by Taylor Creek, so taking that, I found the
Rusty Blackbird feeding along the muddy banks of the creek about 100m upstream
from the feeder area. As I left the area, a Winter Wren began scolding on the
opposite side of the stream and I saw it exploring some nest cavities in a dead
stump.

Happy Winter Birding,

DIRECTIONS:
67 Satchell (RBGR) From the 401, take the Port Union exit and travel south on
Port Union to Lawson Road. Turn right (west) on Lawson to Satchel Blvd (5th
street on the right). Turn right on Satchel. The bird was at a feeder in the
backyard of #67.

The homeowners are birder-friendly but please respect their privacy and that
of their neighbours.
The feeder is not visible from the street and the bird is extremely skittish
and only visits occasionally so be careful as you enter the backyard from the
side access gate on the right side of the house.

(RUBL, WIWR) Pine Hills Cemetery is in the eastern part of Toronto. It is
bounded by Birchmount Road to the west, St. Clair Avenue East to the south, and
Kennedy Road to the east. There are two entrances into the cemetery, one off of
Birchmount Road and one off of Kennedy Road. To find the feeder, come in from
the east (Kennedy) and proceed down the hill and across the bridge.
Immediately after the bridge take the first right and proceed up the hill
adjacent to Taylor Creek. Go about 100m or so and look for the feeder on the
right hand side of the road.
