Highlights of reports received December 20 through December 27 from the Niagara Frontier Region include YELLOW-H. BLACKBIRD, SABINE'S GULL, FRANKLIN'S GULL, BLACK-LEG. KITTIWAKE, KING EIDER, RED CROSSBILL, BOHEMIAN WAXWING and BROWN THRASHER.

December 27, on the Oak Orchard Christmas Bird Count, a female YELLOW-H. BLACKBIRD among 20 RED-W. BLACKBIRDS in the corn field opposite the Lewiston Road Overlook on Route 77 in the Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area. One hour later, the blackbirds could not be found. Also on the count, 11 PINE GROSBEAKS at the northwest corner of Cayuga Pool in the Iroquois Refuge.

An exceptional gull at Dunkirk Harbor this week - an adult plumage SABINE'S GULL, found December 24 and still present on the 26th. Also in the harbor, a first-winter FRANKLIN'S GULL on the same dates. Dunkirk Harbor is loaded with abundant waterfowl, plus LITTLE GULL, several BALD EAGLES and at the power plant, a PEREGRINE FALCON. Nearby at Point Gratiot, a RUBY-CR. KINGLET at one of the cottages.

December 21 on the Niagara River, two BLACK-LEG. KITTIWAKES, an adult and a first-winter, below the control gates in Ontario.

A lakewatch over Lake Ontario at Wilson on December 22 was highlighted by a passing female KING EIDER among numerous common waterfowl, plus RED-THROATED LOON, COMMON LOON, RED-
 NECKED GREBE, ICELAND GULL and GLAUCOUS GULL.

December 23, a female RED CROSSBILL at a feeder in Orchard Park. On the 21st, a brief view of a BOHEMIAN WAXWING in a Williamsville yard in Amherst. December 22 on Grand Island, a BROWN THRASHER at Buckhorn Island State Park, on the hiking trail, between the bridges and power lines. Also at Buckhorn Island, 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS, 76 RING-NECKED DUCKS and at nearby Navy Island, 2 BALD EAGLES.

Still on Grand Island, December 24 at Beaver Island State Park, a TRUMPETER SWAN among over 300 TUNDRA SWANS.

And, December 26, in the Genesee County Town of Bethany, 2 COMMON RAVENS on Francis Road, and on McLernon Road, 245 SNOW BUNTINGS.
