Hello again all Birders,

This is an update on the Yellow-throated Warbler (YTW) in Port Burwell, ON.

It is still here; however, the warmer weather has made all birds, including the YTW become scarce at our feeder zone.

That likely means it is finding better food than found at feeders, which is likely a good thing, but makes it harder to spot.

Some visitors recently have been disappointed not to see it, but others have seen it.

Cold weather may make it a more frequent feeder visitor again.

But too cold weather may also be its enemy on top of the sharp-shinned and coopers hawks.

It still thrives on the home made suet formula that was broadcast on ONTBIRDS before, plus it loves pomegranate and sometimes regular seed!

Directions:

3 Bridge St (there is no number displayed at the road) in Port Burwell, ON (south of Tillsonburg and Aylmer) Cross the bridge in town centre heading west and take the first turn to the right. There is a sign there for Otter Creek Camping and Marina. Preferably park near that sign and walk up the driveway to the house at the top of the hill. It is not the house nearby with the sign that "Welcomes Birders" as it is not the right place. The usually preferred feeder for this bird is on the south side of the house in an arbor. It is the yellow-coloured suet cake. Many other birds, e.g. woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, sparrows, (rarely Carolina Wren) etc. should be around too - but the weather controls traffic. Other birds may also been seen in the surrounding area and at the town waterfront.

Please feel free to sign the visitor book near the driveway and indicate whether and when you see it for the benefit of later visitors.
