Unfortunately several birders were unable to find the Greater White-fronted
Goose at Newcastle harbour between noon and 12.30 today, Friday January 11.
The only unusual goose we saw was a fairly large escaped domestic Chinese
Goose among the many Canadas. It had the orange legs and white around the
base of the bill but its bill was mainly black with just a few orange
flecks. There was a fair amount of movement among the geese, with small
groups coming and going, so the White-fronted Goose reported at 10.30am may
well have left by noon. We'll keep rechecking the harbour in case it
returns.
