Total observation time: 8 hours
Official Counter: Tom Thomas
Observers: Barry Cherriere, Brian Hawthorne, Colin Horstead,
Mike Street, Phil Waggett
Visitors:
There were many Visitors today, including Mark Cranford and birding friend
Bill. Frank and Sandra Horvath, Dave Sked and Francis, Stephen Cheesman and
friends, Richard Tofflemire and friend.
Weather:
The weather today was quite pleasant for the middle of March, but with a
cool north wind off of Lake Ontario it seemed a little chilly at times on
the tower.
Early on there was total cloud cover, but by mid-morning the sun
broke through, and from then on we had a virtual cloudless day.
Raptor Observations:
There were many visitors today at Beamer hoping for a repeat of
yesterday's good flight, but instead what we had was a steady, day long
trickle of Red-tailed Hawks, almost all on the same flight path.Other
Raptors included Turkey Vulture, Sharp Shinned Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, and one
adult Bald Eagle.
Non-raptor Observations:
Today there didn't appear to be many non raptor birds migrating
through Beamer. I did see a Red-bellied Woodpecker, a few Cedar Waxwings,
but nothing of note.
Predictions:
The weather looks good for a decent flight tomorrow.
