Hello birders.

A lovely regal pair of Great Blue Herons slowly flapped their way across the
intersection of Kortright and Edinburgh roads in south Guelph on Wed. Mar. 19,
about six storeys off the ground. They were silent, heading roughly northeast.
At about 5 p.m., they contrasted noticeably with the rush hour busy-ness of the
intersection below. Since I haven't seen any herons in the area since last
fall, I am assuming they are not local but are on their way home to somewhere
else (if I am mistaken, please let me know). This is the earliest in the year I
have ever seen blue herons.
Conditions were: overcast, slight drizzle, about +4, little wind, deep slushy
snow cover, ponds only slightly melted in their centres.
