Hi Ontbirders: This afternoon at about 3:00 pm, a male Redhead was sighted in a group of four Common Goldeneye on the Rideau River in Ottawa East. The ducks were seen where Centennial Boulevard runs down to the river. The birds were all diving in the middle of the river. Further up the River, where Bank Street crosses it at Billings Bridge, four Bohemian Waxwings were in the top of a large tree just to the west of the bridge. Good birding Peter Hall Directions:From Highway 417 going east, exit at number 120 to Bank Street. Turn right on Bank (south) and follow it until it crosses the Rideau River at Billings Bridge. Park on side streets to look for the Bohemian Waxwings. For the Redhead, from Billings Bridge going north on Bank, turn imediately to the right on Riverdale Avenue. Follow Riverdale until it ends at Maine Street. Turn right on Main Street and then immediately turn left onto Centennial Boulevard. Centennial ends at the Rideau River in two blocks. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
