This afternoon Sue and I saw a Red-necked Grebe nesting on a floating tire/wheel in the Bronte Outer Harbour Marina...the same place as the last few years. Two tires were put out for the grebes sometime within the last week. The second tire is at the east end of the basin as the picnic dock. This tire is unoccupied. Photographers be aware that this year's nest is not a picturesque affair right now. A lot of the tire is showing and there are large sticks protruding.

There are numerous Red-necked Grebes both in the marina as well as out on the lake. One Horned Grebe was observed east of the harbour.

Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Rd. and go to the lake. The nest is just east of the large yellow building which is the Lighthouse restaurant. By public transport from the Oakville GO Train Station take the number 14 Lakeshore West bus to East St. or Nelson St. (I am not sure which one has a stop.)
