Hi All,
Just a quick note on our trip today to Pt. Pelee N.P. and surrounding area
(since the last Pelee report only covered to the 23rd).
Myself (Dave Brown) with Mark Cunningham and Jason McGuire had an excellent day
with a total of 95 species...not too shabby for April 27th.
Highlights included:
WHITE-EYED VIROE (2)
- One at the Tip and a second at NW corner of visitor centre parking lot
RED-HEADED WOODPECKER (2)
- together flying overhead at Sparrow Field
BROAD-WINGED HAWK (1)
- A nice adult at the tram halfway stop area taking a low level run at a
very upset mob of blackbirds
GOLDEN EAGLE (1)
- Great look at this bird as it soared no more than a couple of hundred feet
right over us on Conc E just east of the park entrance.
- Immature bird (age indeterminant) still exhibiting white patches in the
wings and a broad white band across the tail
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK (1)
- Like the Golden...this bird was right overhead in the company of several
TV's on Conc E just east of the park entrance
- Light morph
MARBLED GODWIT (1)
- single bird that dropped into the Hillman Marsh Shorebird Habitat just
around 6:00 p.m.
- was actively feeding near all of the terns
Good birding!!
Dave
