I birded Ojibway Park in Windsor this morning, May 2, 2008. On one of the wet trails towards the west side of the park, a Hooded Warbler was singing repeatedly. It stopped singing at exactly 8:30, as if its shift had ended for the day. About half an hour later, on the east side paved trail, I was surprised by a Gray-cheeked Thrush. It was an excellent view - this bird had no rufous on its tail at all, and a uniformly gray back and head. It didn't have enough warmth in its colour to suggest a Bicknell's Thrush. It's my earliest record ever for a Gray-cheek. Other firsts of the spring for me today were Wood Thrush and Magnolia Warbler.

Ojibway Park is best accessed from Matchette Road in Windsor. _______________________________________________
