At 8:30pm tonight the Mottled Duck returned briefly to the Shorebird cell at Hillman Marsh.
Dean Ware and I walked back around the long way and carefully peeked over the dyke without flushing the bird (birds) and were able to get a couple of good images in flight and sitting that I'll post tomorrow. The bird is still returning I think almost every day so far and was seen early in the AM (from around 6:15-7:30 I heard today) and in the late PM, anywhere from 7:45-8:45pm. It usually flies in from the South-West and lands in the SW corner of the Shorebird cell accompanied with the hybrid Black X Wood Duck and drake Mallard. We heard it calling as well before it flew of with his hybrid friend that Dean believes is going to roost in the Marsh. Birding was great at Pelee today, a big change from the last few days...2 X male Pro Warbler's, Cerulean, Kentucky, Louisiana Waterthrush including 7 different male Golden-winged I had heard about. Good birding! Steve Pike _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
