The Huron Fringe Birding Festival concluded this past weekend. The cool, wet, damp conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants though. The total number of species seen during the 10 days of the festival was 181. New species for this past weekend were Ruddy Duck, Broad-winged Hawk, Ruddy Turnstone, Sanderling, Wilson's Phalarope, Black Tern, Black-billed Cuckoo, Common Nighthawk, Yellow- bellied Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, Sedge wren, Marsh Wren, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Pine Siskin and Evening Grosbeak.
