The Huron Fringe Birding Festival concluded this
past weekend. The cool,
wet, damp conditions did not dampen the
enthusiasm of the participants
though. The total number of species seen during
the 10 days of the festival
was 181. New species for this past weekend were
Ruddy Duck, Broad-winged
Hawk, Ruddy Turnstone, Sanderling, Wilson's
Phalarope, Black Tern,
Black-billed Cuckoo, Common Nighthawk, Yellow-
bellied Flycatcher,
Yellow-throated Vireo, Sedge wren, Marsh Wren,
Gray-cheeked Thrush, Pine
Siskin and Evening Grosbeak.
