Believe it or not, there have been multiple sightings of a Roadrunner on the
Bruce Peninsula. From the top of Tobermory down to the Hepworth, Sauble Beach
area, at least four independant sightings have been made of a fast-running
crow-like bird. One individual, a retired Texas A&M professor, familiar with
seeing Roadrunners in their native Texas , is convinced that he saw such a bird
east of Sauble Beach last Saturday.
The mystery Road Runner sightings have been picked up by the local Owen Sound
Sun-Times daily newspaper which has ran two separate stories on this strange
visitor.
While several local birders believe that what has been seen is a Ruffed Grouse
or a Wild Turkey, there have been enough sightings to suggest that something
right out of the cartoons might be lurking around the backroads of the Bruce.
Unfortunately, as yet, no photographs have been taken, but stranger things have
happened.
