The first nest hatched on Monday June 16th. Four healthy chicks. They are
already very active, wandering well beyond their exclosure and the fenced area.
The second nest is due to hatch soon (between June 18th -27th.)
The nest and psychological fencing are located at Beach 1 Wasaga Beach in front
of the boardwalk. We are hoping that the broods will venture east of this,
along the beach to the far end of Beach 1.
NB - Piping Plover viewing at Wasaga is wheelchair accessible along the
boardwalk.
Directions:
Follow the signs to Beach 1. From Hwy 26 follow Mosley Street to Beach 1 at the
end. Turn Left onto Spruce St. (Municipal parking lot - on Right at the end of
Spruce St at the edge of the beach.. Or Provincial Park parking lot - take
first Right off Spruce St. )
Volunteering:
Because the chicks are quite active and because this section of Wasaga Beach is
very busy, many more volunteers are needed. Even one ore two shifts of 4 hours
would help.
Please contact Stacy at the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park office 705-429-2516
