July 15 - In Dunneville Ont., birding with Dave Gordon (on the north shore of Lake Erie 20 Km. west of Fort Erie at the source of the Niagara River)) at Rock Point Provincial Park 24 Least Sandpipers, 3 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 8 Lesser Yellowlegs, 18 Killdeer, 19 Spotted Sandpipers (including 4 non-flying young) 105 Common Tern, 1150 Double-crested Cormorants, 6 Caspian Terns, and 5 Bonaparte's Gulls. Traveling North on Downy Road from Rock Point P. P. making a left on Rymer Road to the Mosaic Ponds. In the Mosaic Pond on the north side of Rymer Road (ask permission from George - he drives a red pickup truck) in the shallow pond 15 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 5 Least Sandpipers, and 2 Short-billed Dowitchers. Traveling east along the north shore of Lake Erie to Fort Erie - Grabell's Point 8 Least Sandpipers - Morgan's Point in Wainfleet Carolina Wren - Port Colburn Main Street bridge 3 Black-crowned Night-Herons - in Fort Erie - at the foot of Stonemill Road 3 Lesser Yellowlegs - Kraft Road 4 Great Egrets (no red bands) 2 Common Mergansers, and a Redheaded Woodpecker. July 14- Dunkirk, NY (40 miles southwest of Buffalo on Lake Erie) 3rd year Bald Eagle being attacked by 3 Common Terns, and four Redheaded Woodpeckers (including a fledgling being fed by an adult.)
