The banded Rock Dove found by Don Wood is likely a racing pigeon that
has become lost or tired. Racing pigeons are banded and raced in clubs
throughout Canada and the world for sport.

To report a banded pigeon, please contact the Canadian Racing Pigeon
Union Inc. http://www.canadianracingpigeonunion.com/

Please remember to report bird bands or other bird markers to the
Canadian Bird Banding Office.

For the first time ever at our cottage on lake Rosseau we have a Rock
dove.
It has a band on its right leg. 98 0r 90 221.

I am not sure who would be interested in the band.

Don Wood

The report of a couple of White-winged Crossbills near Stratford
last
week may have seemed an anomaly but we had a single
juvenile/female
plumaged bird in our yard briefly this morning. The bird was
calling
constantly as it came into the yard, alighted briefly in our
blue
spruce for a few seconds but took off before we could even get
our
binoculars on it. This is the first time we have had a crossbill
in
   our area in mid summer.
Our place is located in north central Elgin County about 20
km
   southeast of London.
