The banded Rock Dove found by Don Wood is likely a racing pigeon that has become lost or tired. Racing pigeons are banded and raced in clubs throughout Canada and the world for sport.

It has a band on its right leg. 98 0r 90 221. I am not sure who would be interested in the band. The bird was calling constantly as it came into the yard, alighted briefly in our blue spruce for a few seconds but took off before we could even get our binoculars on it. This is the first time we have had a crossbill in our area in mid summer. Our place is located in north central Elgin County about 20 km southeast of London.
