I decided to check out the south end of Minesing Swam today. I was surprised
to find 100+ Lesser Yellowlegs, 18 Solitary Sandpipers, 8 Pectoral Sandpipers,
4 Least Sandpipers and a possible Baird's Sandpiper, although the latter was
far away and in bad light. Also seen were an adult and juvenile Sora at the
north edge of the field, and two very rusty Sandhill Cranes.

To reach this area turn north on McKinnon Rd. which is off Hwy 90 at the
eastern outskirts
of Angus. About a Km. up there is a large sod field on the left. This is just
before the real swampy area begins. There is some standing water and the
shorebirds were at the northern edge of the field. The Swampy area north of
here is totally overgrown and produced nothing of note. The Cranes at the far
west end of the field.
