Today's report on behalf of Tiny (Coffee and doughnuts next time please <:-|).
Fledgling Osprey still preferring home to being about but strongly
encouraged by Momma to do so -- no evidence of food being brought to
the platform.
Most of the Yellowlegs were Lesser, but at least one Greater (Doug
McCrae). 4 Solitary Sandpipers, 2 Least and several Spotted. The
heavy rains have left little mud, but an island is now appearing.
All the Swallows (B, B, T, RW and C) feeding over the pond. Purple
Martin and Several Swift in passage.
Many Mallard, Green and Blue winged Teal, Wood Duck (several
families) and 1 Widgeon. At least one family of Moorhen.
Oscar the lonely Trumpeter Swan still in residence.
1 Myrtle, a Hummingbird and a Kingbird in fly bys. Redwings and
Cedar Waxwings passing over.
On the lagoons (across the road): 11 Bonaparte's Gulls in fall or
juvenile plumage, and a Pied-Bill Grebe.
Marsh Wrens still present, but largely silent, with Swamp and Song Sparrows.
The Brighton Constructed Wetland is a great place to visit. Come and
join us. The Constructed Wetland will be open Saturdays 8:30 until
10:00 am until further notice. Tiny (Keith Lee) will let everyone
know if and when the time changes.
Directions: The Constructed Wetland is located at the SE corner
ofBrighton. From Hwy 401, take the Brighton exit 509 (Hwy. 30) and
follow it south into town. Go south through the two traffic lights,
over
the railway tracks and follow the main road, now called Prince Edward
Street, south. About 1 km south of the tracks, the main road begins
to swing to the left and becomes County. Rd. 64. As this long turn
ends the Constructed Wetlands appear on the right side.
