Greetings fellow birders:

Yesterday, while searching for plants for my Species at Risk plant book I
discovered a group of fall migrants foraging at the Archie Coulter Conservation
Area. The group included an adult Red eyed vireo, adult male Black throated
green warbler, adult Nashville warbler, adult female Chestnut sided warbler,
adult female American redstart, adult White breasted nuthatch, adult male Downy
woodpecker, adult Eastern wood pewee, adult male Rose breasted grosbeak, adult
male Northern cardinal and an adult male Golden winged warbler. I also found
Yellow giant hyssop (a mint) and Tall bellflower, which are regionally rare in
Elgin County.

To get to Archie Coulter Conservation Area take Highway #3 through Aylmer,
heading west toward St. Thomas. Turn left, heading south on Springwater Road.
The first road on the right takes you to the Conservation Area, but I don't
recall them road name. If you arrive at the Springwater Conservation Area,
you've driven too far.

Good birding!
Cheers,
Dave Jolly,
