Because my computer may be out off commission shortly I elect to send you this
late afternoon report--Jim Fairchild reported a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in
the marshland south of the boardwalk at Lynde Shores C.A., apparently
approached from the east trail that parallels the roadway from the parking lot.

In the Lynde woodlot--brown creeper, FOX SPARROW.

At the CMRW platform area-- 20+ PINE SISKINS, 1 TREE SPARROW (our first!!),
both kinglets, marsh wren

Again let me thank the very many observers who realized we were going to have
an explosive day of counting migrating raptors because of the medium N winds,
rising BP and great thermals. Indeed, during the morning many Turkey Vultures
approached from Thickson Pt. and went northerly around the north end of
Cranberry wetland. However, by noon the flight path was above our barrier
beach. There was very little flapping necessary as the birds kettled on the
thermals westward.

Between 0830 and 1400EST the raptor total was 958-- I credit in particular
Carol Horner, Donna Foster, Joyce Collier-Brown and Charlie Adey for their
"laser-eye counting" over most of these hours, allowing me to sit down and
record!!

-----706 Turkey Vultures, 2 late OSPREYS, 2 BALD EAGLES (imm., 3-yr.), 6
Northern Harriers, 46 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 3 Cooper's Hawks, our first NORTHERN
GOSHAWK, 3 Red-shouldered Hawks, 186 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 dark-morph
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, AND 2 unidentified raptors.

I await a phone-call with more hawks to add for the next hour.

Butterflies--very few-- 5 Monarchs, 1 Red Admiral
Many red Meadowhawk dragonflies.

East along Bayly from Salem to the first street east of Lakeridge, south down
Hall's Rd. to the second roadside parking area. From the east, west along
Victoria past Lynde Shores C.A. parking lot to Hall's Rd.
