Hello Birders, I birded Kortright for both days of the weekend, and found some notables.
At the "Shrubs for Wildlife" section, an early NORTHERN SHRIKE was harassing the hundreds of ROBINS & WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS. It stayed there for approximately 5-6 minutes until a COOPER'S HAWK scared it off. One northern shrike last year wintered at Kortright. Sifting through the hordes of White-Throated Sparrows, I discovered two FOX SPARROWS and a male EASTERN TOWHEE, in the "Shrubs for Wildlife" area as well. As you enter Kortright, immediately after the fee station to the right is a fenced off path. If you follow that path straight (you should have a small pond to your left), you will reach an open field bordered with shrubs. Here, amongst the flocks of Robins, I noted a BROWN THRASHER. It's really skulky and could take some time to see if you try to find it. There was also a juvenile YELLOWTHROAT in the marsh boardwalk.
