The gate should be open and unlocked for hunters on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Park at tower and get guest pass. Waterfowl hunters begin hunting one-half hour before sunrise and one-half hour after sunset. Hunters are in the park M, W, F, Sat. Questions email Bob Pettit, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks to all who helped with rescuing the counter from the many GE and RT he had trouble seeing. Thanks to Paul Pratt's birding group who helped a bunch. Weather: Southeast wind 4-10 mph. Sky 90-20-90 percent cloud cover. 11-12 C. Everything was going well until about 2:30 PM when it started to rain enough to leave the tower and go to the ground. It didn't last long and we resumed counting on the north side of the tower at ground level. Raptor Observations: Started count late because of the time change and I don't usually do Sundays. Cindy will not be able to continue to count this season to pursue academic studies. Good Luck. First Golden Eagle at 9:37, one at 9:58, three at 10:08, one at 11:12, EIGHT GE at 1:12 (All in one group!), two at 1:15, one at 1:19, one at 2:15. Eight in one view was spectacular! Birds were best seen with a layer of clouds above but there was a short time when the flight sky was blue and we steadfastly search was ardent. Good looks at rough-legged birds with one very low dark morph bird the last hour. Non-raptor Observations: Crows, Rusty Blackbirds, Goldfinch, Bluebird, Purple Finch, Horned Lark. Predictions: Light rain sometime. Gate should be open ======================================================================== Report submitted by Bob Pettit ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
