A few good birds were at Erieau, Chatham-Kent today.
A Purple Sandpiper was on the pier (towards the lighthouse) offering closeup
views and photo ops.
Lots of gulls around. A first basic Franklin's Gull (found by Jim Burk) was
there in the morning. In mid afternoon I found a juv Black-legged Kittiwake
off the end of the pier. An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was on the
breakwall across the channel.
At Rondeau Park this morning, birds were much scarcer than last week, but
warblers included a few Yellow-rumped and one Orange-crowned on south point
trail. An Eastern Phoebe was still hanging around. A nice flock of Eastern
Bluebirds was on south point trail. A couple of Fox Sparrows were still
present. Lots of Pine Siskins flying around as well.
Directions to Erieau: The port of Erieau is located south of Blenheim.
West out of Blenheim on Talbot Trail (Rd. 3), turn left onto (Erieau Rd.)
Rd. 12 and follow to village. The pier area is found by continuing through
the village and turning right at the restaurant intersection.
