Hey Birders,

My Dad, Jim and I just got back from a pretty good day in the Long Point
area. We had a group of three (3) Cave Swallows shortly after 2pm at the
Turkey Point beach, flying east. We actually heard these birds calling as
they flew over!!! I thought that was kind of cool. In the morning a probable
Cave Swallow was seen at Old Cut from the dyke by Yousif Attia twice before
disappearing.

Another highlight was finding a Cattle Egret along the 1st Concession Road
at house marker 1099 at 12pm. It was associating with 2 work horses and was
feeding on insects in the alfalfa field.

We also observed 5 Little Gulls; 1 from Old Cut, 1 from the Port Rowan
Sewage Lagoons and 3 from the Turkey Point Beach. All were adults.

Another interesting observation was a drake American Wigeon seen from the
Port Rowan marina. This bird had a white/buff coloured cheek and throat,
similar to the picture I found on
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/cayugabirdclub/photos.htm . I've seen this once
before in January 2007 and just thought it was interesting.

Good Birding,

Ken and Jim Burrell
