The Red-bellied Woodpecker in Victoria Road appeared twice this morning, at 7:30 and 10 a.m., both times on the ground under the feeder where the Bluejays have been scattering millet. The hamlet of Victoria Road is just south of the old Carden Township in the "city" of Kawartha Lakes, about 2 hours north east of downtown Toronto. From Kirkfield, take highway 48 east, over the Trent-Severn canal, and turn left (north) onto Kawartha Lakes 35. In about 1.5 km. at the top of the hill turn left (west) onto Richmond Street . The feeders are in the back yard. If you decide to visit, please phone 705-438-1301 to avoid tangling with our dog.
