Thanks to Willie D'Anna and Mike Galas for getting the word out on this  
bird.  Several other people were able to arrive in time to see it from both  
the 
north and south ends of Lasalle Park in Buffalo.  Literally POINT BLANK  looks 
as the bird cruised along the shoreline just off of the  railing 
"Sabine's-style."  Turns out that there are a few dark  flecks of black in the 
mid-primaries as well as primary coverts which along  with the fairly extensive 
dark 
grayish nape would probably point to a 2nd-winter  over a "full" adult, similar 
to 
a bird which was in the Niagara gorge a few  years ago.  It was last seen 
heading south at the north end of the  park around 3:00 p.m., although it would 
often go in and out of view to the  south or north for periods of time as it 
foraged along the shoreline.   Also around were several thousand Bonaparte's 
Gulls and an ad.  and juv. COMMON TERN.  Photos are here:
