Hi Everyone Yesterday, November 16th, birded Presqu'ile P.P. for the day. Overall, cold and windy but we did managed to see 1 Purple Sandpiper in a flock of 18 Dunlin and 7 Sanderling on Gull Island. The bird was very tame. There was a juvenile Snowy Owl present on Sebastopol Island. Late lingerers included 21 American Pipit on Gull Island and 6 Eastern Bluebirds on Huff Road near the railway tracks. Good birding, Bruce
Directions: (courtesy Fred Helleiner) To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park, follow the signs from Brighton. Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a tabloid that is available at the Park gate. Visitors to Gull Island should be prepared to wade through shin-deep water in which there is often a swift current and a substrate that is somewhat uneven. It should also be noted that, because duck hunting is given priority on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, Gull Island, High Bluff Island, Owen Point, and part of the calf pasture are not available for bird-watching on those days.
