Hello All,
The adult male Varied Thrush is still coming to the feeder at Harold and Connie McCall at 13 Greenwood in the town of Deep River. Lise and I visited Harold and Connie home this morning. The thrush was in the backyard feeding with the neighboring Blue Jays. A flock of Evening Grosbeaks showed up at the feeding, Harold said this was their first visit. We visited Elevator Bay in Kingston this afternoon, there are thousands of ducks in the bay, a scope is recommended, the birds remain far from shore. With the ducks were a large number of Tundra Swans and groups of Common Loons, in the holing pond east of the DuPont Building we were able to get close views of 4 to 5 dozens Gadwall. On the way home, on Highway 38 in Sharbot Lake there were 30 or more male Common Merganser swimming near the highway in one of the few areas on the lake with open waters. Cheers, Brian Young Directions: Phone 613.584.2586. Visitors are most welcome. Deep River is located on the Ottawa River 40+ km. above Pembroke. Off Hwy. 417 in Deep River, turn north at the Ridge Road exit. At the first four-way stop turn left and take the first left beyond Sheridan Court at Greenwood. Direction provided by Lynn Hardy. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
