I surveyed the lakes and bays of Prince Edward County from Point Petre to
Presquile Bay for Little Gulls
Apparently Little Gulls real prefer East Lake over the Niagara River this
December. I had a total of 40 Little Gulls. To see most of the gulls a scope
is needed.
East Lake
(Viewed from the outlet boat ramp and the Sandbanks P. P. group camping
site on east lake)County road 18
32 Little Gulls, 47 Bonaparte's Gulls and 2 Pine Siskins
Outlet beach Sandbanks Provincial Park
2 Little Gulls, 125 Bonaparte's Gulls
West Lake
Sandbanks P.P Dune day use area (county road 12 south of county road 18)
4 Little Gulls, 61 Bonaparte's Gulls, 500+ Common Goldeneyes, 650+ Greater
Scaups, 8 Redheads
Downtown Wellington at boat ramp and liquor store
2 Little Gulls, 34 Bonaparte's Gulls, 3 Tundra Swans and 1 Double-crested
Cormorant
At Point Petre near the lighthouse I also had 1 Northern Flicker and all 3
Scoter species
Coburg Harbour
1 Brant and at a nearby residence 1 Chipping Sparrow.
Directions
East Lake and West Lake both occur in sections of Sandbanks provincial park.
Just follow the signs for the park south from Picton or Bloomfield
