Ontario Birders:

The Ontario Winter List has been updated for the 3rd week of Winter. The
updated list will be available at the website http://tinyurl.com/onwinter in a
day or so.

Nine new species were observed during the last week. Highlights include: a
Broad-winged Hawk from the Hanover/Walkerton CBC; Townsend's Solitaire from the
Parry Sound CBC; and, a backyard birder in Cochenour (near Red Lake) is going
to great effort to assist a female Baltimore Oriole stay alive in the -40
temperatures in that part of the Province. Some additional reports of species
seen in Weeks 1 and 2 also came in bringing the 2008/09 Ontario Winter List to
185 species (and 2 races) or 95% of the way towards the 2007/08 total of 195
species.

Usual species not reported so far include: Spruce Grouse, American Three-toed
Woodpecker, Pine Warbler, Yellow-headed Blackbird and Brewer's Blackbird. The
North-western CBC's are scheduled for this coming weekend so hopefully some of
these species will be seen.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and good birding to all.
