On Feb.6 Janice Melendez and I had a great 1 to 2- hour opportunity to watch a young male Snowy Owl perched atop a light standard alongside Hy.35 right at the Lindsay Airport. We sat in the car all of the time, looking at every feather and watching various preening techniques, as well as showing us his purposeful slow flight on 2 occasions to a different light standard. Particularly noticeable was the thinly-barred breast and belly, along with a narrow black forehead cap.
Also, over on Hy.36 ne. of Lindsay (exact locale I am uncertain) we observed a very light sub-adult Red-tailed Hawk atop a light standard--he had an all-white breast and belly with a very subtle light belly band, and a faintly-barred tail which was showing pink underneath as he flew.
