Went looking for birds along March Valley Road today (Feb 14, 2009). Saw a group of Pine Grosbeaks feeding at the Ottawa Duck Club feeders along with a small flock of Common Redpolls. We heard something calling from off closer to the river and went looking for it just in time to see it: an adult plumage Bald Eagle flying overhead.
Didn't find any owls, but we did see some Wild Turkeys at the feeder on the way back, along with a bright-beaked juvenile male Northern Cardinal. A little further down, we happened upon a Ruffed Grouse picking buds off of the branches of a tree right along the fence. Stopped at Hilda Road on the way back, but the Hoary wasn't present. The feeders had been removed, however... March Valley Road is located northwest of Ottawa. Search for "45.365738,-75.922383" in Google Maps for the first Ottawa Duck Club feeder.
