Hello everyone! We have some free time this weekend and are hoping to visit the Ottawa and Kingston areas for some nice winter birding. I have a few questions….
• I have seen several locations of Great Grey Owls reported in the Ottawa area this winter…. Are there sites that are still more reliable and which one you would recommend for a one day visit to Ottawa • Any other interesting birds still present in Ottawa, Barrow’s Goldeneye, wasn’t there a Ruffed Grouse at a feeder last year?, any Hawk Owls, or anything else interesting? Hoary Redpolls at feeders? • I see lots of reports from Amherst Island that are great! Especially of our much wanted Boreal Owl. Any strategy to coming here, any time of day work, or the earlier the better? Any particular part of the KFN Owl Woods? • Any particular place for Snow Buntings / Lapland Longspur – I would guess anywhere on the island? • Anything else we shouldn’t miss in the Kingston / Ottawa areas? Last and probably least, any suggestions on a good Thai restaurant in either city? Thanks for your help and good birding!
